Tamara Vereskunova Waiting (Reading the Bible) Come, come back, my prodigal son, I’ll forgive everything you have done. I’m sure, one day you will have seen: Against Heaven, before me you sinned. I’ll forgive leaving me, your prodigal past When you, sonny, get home at last. I’m still scanning the road you’d gone In hope: one day you will return, I will see when you are a great way off, And run, weak from age, tears and cough. I’ll invite all the neighbors, and say then: "My son was dead, he’s alive again. Let us eat, be merry, my friends around, For my son was lost and now he’s found”. To my elder son (in my case – a daughter) I’ll explain, try to prove: "Everyone ought to Be glad and merry for a great reason: My sonny was dead, his life now is on”. Come, come back my dearest son, I’ll forgive everything you have done.
